Charity Exhibition – Artist Bios – Patricia Burgess

Patricia Burgess.

Qualified as a lawyer but began painting seriously about 18 years ago.  I work in most media –sometimes all at once, which I love,  using whatever processes or methods seem to suit the image in my mind’s eye, be it  free and full of colour like Barbara Rae, or quiet and cool like Morandi. The effect of light on colour plus a strong form are always important to me whatever the catalyst, and I love to experiment with new methods and subject matter. Fascinated by Picasso’s cubism in my teens, his earlier works came as a revelation when I discovered them. I continue to discover artists who excite me –  Cezanne, the Pointillistes, Uglow, Hockney, Freud, Diebenkorn and many, many  others..

Full Member of Ulster Watercolour Society, Art Society of Ulster, Ulster Women Artists, Pastel Society of Ireland, received awards from all , and  selected to exhibit at RHA, RUA, and  final of the Laing Exhibition in the,Mall Gallery London.

Charity Exhibition – Artist Bios- Kay Cullen – Shirley Barlow

Kay Cullen

Kay has enjoyed painting for many years.

When she discovered pastel painting she found her forte and made many friends in the Pastel Society of Ireland of which she is an award-winning member.

Since retiring Kay has received lots of help and encouragement, through Rosie’s classes and summer painting holidays, to try many different approaches to drawing and painting.

She is currently working, in various media, on a series of paintings inspired by the poetry of W.B. Yeats for a solo exhibition in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast in September 2015.

Shirley Barlow

Shirley has loved painting all her life but started painting seriously about twenty years ago. She loves to experiment in all media – acrylic, inks, oil, charcoal and collage in fact she likens herself to a butterfly flitting from one thing to another – well life’s too short to get bored or boring and the main thing is she enjoys what she does immensely!

She is a member of the Artists Society of Ulster, Ulster Watercolour Society and the Ulster Women Artists
