“Raccoon” Oil on canvas
Raccoon is the result of a portrait started in April (see blog https://rosiemcclelland.wordpress.com/2011/04/22/new-portrait/)
Although the resulting painting was not what I had initially planned I was happy with the outcome and sometimes you just have to go with your instincts! Neil is one of my favourite subjects – full of character – so I still have plans for the original idea.
I was fortunate enough to have the painting selected for the 130th Annual Exhibition of the Royal Ulster Academy so took Neil along to the preview – see below. Probably not allowed to take photos but hey ho!! The exhibition is in the Ulster Museum, Belfast and runs until November 20th – well worth a visit. While you’re there have a look in an adjoining gallery at the selection of photographs and paintings of the Queen including a Gerhard Richter lithograph, Annie Liebowitz photograph, Andy Warhol prints, Annagoni, Freud and many more.
